Héritage - Conclusion Storyboard & Illustration

For the ending cinematic of our university game called Héritage, I was tasked to create the storyboard. The goal of the storyboard was to serve as guidelines for the animators, so the drawings did not need to be very detailed. The first sketched version of the storyboard was simple in order to communicate an idea, and once the idea was decided, I cleaned it up just enough so that the animators get a good idea of the angles, lights, shadows, positions, and frames. I did not draw the details of the clothes as they did not offer any relevant information.
For the illustration featured in the cinematic, I allowed it to be much more detailed and I shaded a lot of the elements, since it would only be seen for a few seconds. This illustration needed to make an impact and to not get lost in the motion.

Thumbnail version used to validate the idea with the team. Since the first draft, I considered a flow of movement, and avoided jarring cuts and axis flips. Certain head and hands movements lead the viewer to the following frame.

Cleaned up version. The script was then added in a separate Word document, where it could be edited and reviewed by team members. There's a significance in the way the character faces. When she's facing right, she's thinking of the future and vice versa.
